As you might have red in the portfolio, we're also acting as IT-specialist for the company Nashcon BV. We perform several tasks for this company, the main task is website development. The first representation is the Indoor Karting De Koog website. But that's nothing compared with what's coming.

The project where we were working on the past 4 to 5 months and are working on right now is an huge network of websites that are all aimed at one goal: informing the tourists on Texel*. The executive director asked us to make around 50 template-based websites in order to achieve this goal.

It's still under development, but the goal is to fill in all those website with useful information gathered by employees and external informants.

Because of this huge amount of websites, the

maintenance must be centralised as much as possible.

That's why we programmed the prototype of the websites in PHP with a MySQL database backend. You can find the prototype over here. The global layout and the static elements for all the sites come from a few centralised files. All the dynamic elements come from a database which holds this information for each website separately.

Every website can have its own webmaster. This webmaster can add, edit and delete the information shown on that website. His actions are directly interpretated by the database. At the moment, we have duplicated the prototype 50 times so each website is an instance of the template. Now only fill them up by recruiting webmasters!

You can probably see why this centralised structure is an enormous time-saver: if we'd want to change the lay-out only one file has to be modified and it'll be changed on all 50 websites at once.

In the end, we hope to provide enough information and entertainmant to satisfy the visitors. And that's where internet is all about.

Still, other projects are on their way. We hope you'll be part of that in the future. Time will tell...
